A skin temperature-based sensor was recently added to the Galaxy Watch 5 to monitor menstrual cycles.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 5 series includes a menstrual health tracker based on skin temperature. It has been reported that the tech giant is currently developing additional health-tracking features that use skin temperature. There is currently no additional information about the update. Meanwhile, 32 countries (including Korea, the US, and Europe) now have access to the menstrual cycle tracking feature. Thanks to an integrated infrared temperature sensor, it tracks menstrual cycles with pinpoint precision.

A Samsung representative in charge of the Samsung Health Service has stated on the Korean Samsung community forum that the company plans to incorporate the skin temperature sensor into more of the company’s health monitoring offerings. According to the announcement, the device will receive a software update to enable the new temperature sensor features. However, he must provide additional information about the forthcoming health tracking features or their release schedule.

Meanwhile, Samsung has released the menstrual tracking sensor for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which works by measuring changes in the wearer’s skin temperature. This function employs infrared technology to monitor temperature fluctuations and precisely assess the menstrual cycle. The Samsung Health app provides access.

As was previously mentioned, 32 countries (including Korea, the US, and 30 European countries) are in the process of rolling out the feature. However, we have yet to determine if or when this feature will be available in India. Samsung claims the collected data is encrypted and stored locally on the user’s device.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 5 series that same month, in August 2022. There are two sizes of the Galaxy Watch 5, plus the larger Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The Galaxy Watch 5 launched with the ability to track your heart rate, oxygen saturation, and stress levels and take your heart rate and blood pressure readings.
